Rugged Capability

Built on the back of Nissan’s proven chassis and frame, the all-new 2022 Frontier is one of the most durable mid-sized pickups available — winning many industry quality and durability awards along the way.

This reputation of true durability wasn’t just given to the Frontier, it was earned over years of grueling engineering and refinement of the powertrain, steering and suspension, resulting in one of the best mid-sized pickups ever made.

The all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier will keep the same powertrain as its predecessor, with the 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine coming standard in all models. This engine configuration offers best-in-class performance and power with 310-horsepower and 281 lb-ft. Of torque.

Nissan’s 3.8-liter V6 engine is projected to get an EPA estimated 18mpg City, 24mpg highway, and a combined 20mpg in the 4x2. For the 4x4 Frontier, customers will see a slight drop in estimated fuel economy with 17mpg City, 22mpg Highway, and 19mpg combined.

Better steering control and feel are coming to the all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier with Nissan utilizing their famed hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering system. In order to provide better, more responsive steering, Nissan increased the steering gear ratio by 16 percent, resulting in a far more enjoyable driving experience.

Amongst all the rugged upgrades are the all-new hydraulic cab mounts on the Frontier, designed to reduce road vibration by 80 percent. Along with the hydraulic cab mounts, come new urethane jounce bumpers, which provide improved damping for a smoother ride over potholes and better overall off-road performance.

A larger front stabilizer bar was added for the 2022 model year, as well as a new rear stabilizer bar designed to reduce body roll, as well as increase traction. As expected, the all-new Frontier will come standard with 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS) designed to provide ultimate stopping power.

The rugged capability of the all-new Nissan Frontier is further proven with the 4x4 Frontier models featuring a shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive system, which includes 2WD/4HI/4LO driving modes. This will allow the Frontier to take advantage of the 4-wheel limited-slip differential, which transfers power to the drive wheels for more grip on low traction surfaces.

Owners of the all-new Frontier will be able to navigate steep grades with the standard on all models Hill Start Assist, and for those with the 4x4 option, Hill Descent Control will be standard as well.

When it comes to towing, the Frontier will be plenty capable, with a towing capacity rated up to 6,720 pounds. That isn’t all though, as Nissan has now made available Trailer Sway Control, which helps detect sway and automatically applies braking to help correct the sway and provide a safer towing experience.

All-New Interior

The exterior of the all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier wasn’t the only thing to be redesigned, as the interior of the Frontier received a complete overhaul. Nissan’s designers opted for new trim, finishers, and meter accents inspired once again by rugged, outdoor gear, creating a unique, modern interior that is driver-focused.

Front and center in the all-new Frontier is the largest-in-class, standard 7-inch Advanced Driver Assist Display, designed to provide drivers with all of the essential information they need while behind the wheel. A 9-inch color touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available on all models, for that completely connected driving experience.

Road noise will be a thing of the past in the all-new Frontier, with added insulation and acoustic insulation glass coming standard on all Frontier models. According to Nissan, engine noise will be reduced by 5 decibels, road noise reduced by 3 decibels, and wind noise by 2.5 decibels, all in effort to make your daily driving experience more enjoyable.

Standard on all models will be Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats in the front, designed to provide softness and lateral support in order to reduce long-range driver fatigue. Customers will be able to choose from two interior color options — Charcoal and Sandstone.

For 2022 Nissan increased bed height by 1.4 inches, which subsequently increased the bed volume by 40.1 cubic feet.
